Question: What’s one of the worst things you can do in the world of business?
Answer: Think. You. Know. EVERYTHING.
2016 Event Tips
In the fast-paced world of special events, it’s easy to gloss over basics, or default to doing things “your way.” In 2016, we were lucky enough to participate in events that were not only fabulous…but kept us in check. We learned a lot, and wanted to share our favorite 2016 event tips with all of you! 2016 Event Tips
The Special Event 2016 – TSE Connects
1. Measure. Measure. MEASURE AGAIN!
CHIC was honored to sponsor the TSE Connects Event at #TSE2016, where we designed an Andy Warhol-inspired pool party in the heart of Orlando. Under the guidance of Metropolis Productions, we were able to assemble décor quite unlike any themed event we had ever done. BUT – it was a pool deck. An oddly-shaped (but marvelous) pool deck. Our design team spent hours on site measuring…walking the space…and measuring again. We had to ensure that we utilized every bit of real estate in the most effective (and hottest) way possible. The space was transformed, the masses rejoiced, and later…we invested in laser measuring devices. 2016 Event Tips
Pro Tip: Design (or have us design) custom water fall clings to completely change the vibe of the event space. Like these pineapple prints…cute!

2. Research is your friend.
Nothing makes us squeal with joy more than an event designer with a unique vision. On this occasion, event designer Lisa Stoner brought the luxe concept of “The New York City Library” to the table. So, of course, we did nothing less than hit the books and help develop the stunning visual atmosphere along with the rest of the team. From the runway to the lounge, this event was nothing short of stunning. 2016 Event Tips

Pro Tip: Geometric shapes are IN! Don’t be shy and tuck your furniture off into a corner. Develop unique vignettes that can be placed front-and-center. Utilize pieces with different shapes and textures to create drama in the center of the room, like we did with the Banquette and Curved Minotti Benches.

Whitewash Farm Table Development
3. Keep your finger on the pulse.
Let’s get real. Farm-to-table events are not going away anytime soon. And we’re TOTALLY ok with that. But as much as we love our classic Farm Tables, we decided to pick up on a trend we discovered earlier in the year. The team at CHIC was like, “Hey…let’s make them WHITEWASH.”
And thank goodness we did, because they were the perfect addition to this styled shoot at the Sydonie Mansion by Rachael Jensen of Dandy Details.

Pro Tip: Pay attention to LINES. We were elated when Dandy Details thought outside the box and lined our round-backed King Louie dining chairs with stunning greenery.

Lush Greenery around our King Louie chairs was a dazzling and unexpected touch!
